story Father, Dear Father. In this story, the father writes a letter to his son
about how his son disappointed him by slipping from the first rank position to
the second rank.
No, he had not done the right thing.
As the son wanted a normal life and stated that the wisdom not only lies in the
studies but also in living life fully.

(a) Discuss the character sketch of Gerrard and the intruder. Who
is more smart between the two and how? (See lesson 12)
Ans: To talk about the lifestyle, Gerrard was
a man of medium height who wore glasses, dressed in a suit and a great court.
He had a cultured voice.
To talk about mental capabilities, he had a
brilliant mind who had the capability to produce interesting stories within no
time he was a truly creative minded person with sense of humour, wit, smart
thinking and intelligence. He could handle any adversity with a cool and calm
mind which enabled him to get out of hard times easily.
For instance to be very particular about this
chapter he using his presence of mind was able to convince the intruder that he
himself was the murder and was being chased by police. The intruder was totally
convinced by his worlds when he said that questioned the need for him to live
in a cottage where no one except trade persons arrive, stay that today and move
somewhere tomorrow. The intruder believed Gerrard so truly that he even agreed
to move to a safe place with him in the car. But Gerrard using his presence of
mind made out a wonderful story and said that one of his men is waiting in
outskirts of the city and would give a call when he sees police heading towards
the enssex cottage.
To his good luck he got a call at that time
and Gerrard so to leave that place as soon as possible. The intruder believes
this situation so nicely that he thought it’s true. When Kerala proposed the
idea of the intruder moving with Gerrard in his car to escape from the cops he
agreed but Gerrard post in the intruder into a covered by knocking down his
revolver. This way Gerrard got out of a life threatening situation
successfully.
Well, Gerrard was the active and wise man, who
always work by thinking and using the mind. He always considered as intelligent
man the way he escaped from intruder was a clear sign of it.
While the intruder was originally the
criminal who came to kill the Gerrard so that he could take his identity but
the Gerrard took work with his mind as the result intruder was caught by the
police.

Ans: The question is asked from the story I
Must Know the Truth. The parents of Aradhana had a necklace to gift her. It was
a symbol to represent how much they love and care for her.
Aradhana’s mother gave it to her on the day of
the school’s Annual function as Aradhana was a Baharatnatyam dancer and was
about to perform. So to look elegant while performing her mother gave her the
necklace.
(b) How
did Bholi’s mother react when her father asked her about sending Bholi to
school ? Why did mother react like this?

Step-III- Prepare a Bio-sketch of Sardar Patel on the basis of the
information you have collected. It must be written in 5-6 paragraphs covering
all the points and information mentioned above.
Ans: Sardar Vallabhai Patel, was the first deputy
Prime Minister of India. He was also India’s first home minister. Fondly called
the Iron Man of India, It was Sardar Vallabhai Patel’s determination and
courage which created a unified India after India became independent from
British on 1947.
Sardar Patel was born in the state of Gujarat.
Right from his childhood, he was a bright student and a great organizer. He
went to England to continue his studies and returned to India after earning a
degree. He subsequently earns the barrister post and soon became a successful
lawyer. He rejected many attractive jobs offered by the British government.
Soon he started participating in the National freedom movement. His organizing
capacity and public speaking skills made him a mass leader. In 1917, he was
elected as the secretary of Indian national congress in Gujarat. He
participated in all major agitations organized against British and in 1930,
Sardar Vallabh bhai Patel was among the leaders imprisoned for participating in
the famous Salt Satyagraha. He played a major role in the 1942 quit India
movement. Post-independence, Patel, played an instrumental role in uniting the
country by pushing for the merger of more than 562 princely states.
The greatness of Sardar Patel can be
understood from a single incident where in the 1946 election for the Congress presidency, he stepped down
in favor of Nehru at the request of Gandhi, Sardar Patel very well knew that
the congress president will be eventually be the Prime Minister of Free India.
Sadly, he couldn’t live long to enjoy the hard
earned freedom long enough. He passed away on December 15, 1950. Sardar Patel
is immortal. He still lives and inspires millions of people in India and around
the world. Recently India government announced the Statue of Unity, a fitting
tribute to Sardar Valla Bhai Patel with a planned height of 182 meters.
He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s
highest honor in 1991, Sardar Patel’s birthday which comes on October 31, was
declared as Rashtriya Ekta Divas.
